🔵 January 2025: Your First Self Check-in of the Year

Happy 2025!
If you're reading this on January 11th, you've already survived the first wave of "new year, new you" posts and probably at least three LinkedIn articles about "disrupting your industry with AI." Congratulations!
I'm sharing this monthly reflection with you because, well, someone needs to remind us look up from our screens and remember we're human beings, not human doings.
(Yes, that was cheesy, but I stand by it.)
As someone who's spent the last decade being very "entrepreneurial,” I’ve learned to check in with myself regularly to assess if I’m staying in spiritual, mental, and physical alignment.
I've worked so hard that when I finally emerged from my office cave, my houseplants formed their own union demanding better working conditions.
I've spent nights staring at my ceiling fan, mentally rewriting decisions and dreams for the future at 3 AM.
I've missed family events because I was "building my empire" – turns out, empires can wait, but your nephew's dinosaur-themed birthday party can't.
Don’t Make the Same Mistakes, Use This Check-in
This monthly check-in isn't another task for your to-do list or another "expert" telling you how to run your business or optimize yourself as a person. Think of this as a friendly reminder to pause and check your internal compass before you end up in the wrong hemisphere of your business journey (been there, got the t-shirt).
You don't need to tackle every reflection question or ponder every prompt. Just use what resonates. Consider this email your permission slip to take a breath, step back, and remember why you started this journey in the first place.

Before We Reflect, Take a Moment to Pause

MONTHLY CHECK-IN
Let’s make sure we’re in a calm state of being:
🎧 Turn on a relaxing, or calming ambience
🧘 Take 5 deep breaths (4 seconds in through nose, 6 seconds out through mouth, repeat 5x times)
📑 Grab your journal, or do it without paper
🔵 What are 3 wins from the prior month?
Wins don’t need to mean “sales.” Wins can mean anything you’re proud of. Did you step out of your comfort zone? Did you make an impact in the world? Did you take a Friday off for the first time in a while?
🔵 What was a challenge you faced last month?
Did you overcome that challenge? Why was it challenging? What did you learn about it? If you didn’t resolve it, how can you moving forward? Have you put it in the past? How did you grow?
🔵 Did you move closer to your goals?
If not, how can you get back on track? Do you need to make adjustments in certain areas? Is there a mental shift required? If you did move towards your goals, celebrate that! Even if it was a baby step.
🔵 What's one focus, or intention you want to set for the upcoming month?
Does achieving this align with your larger vision? Does it fire you up inside? How will this impact your life when complete? How will it impact the lives of others? What do you need to make this happen? What are 3 examples of action you can take right now to put this in motion? —Now, do it!
🔵 How are you doing “outside” of your business?
Are you taking care of your health? Are you getting adequate sleep? Are you setting boundaries with tech? Do you feel connected? Are you dealing with life stressors? How are you? Check-in.
